Geraldine 02:54
Geraldine wakes in the morning Off to the kitchen cooking Fixin' me breakfast and makin' me lunch Cookin' up supper she loves me a bunch Chorus: Geraldine I love you Geraldine I love you Geraldine I love you so Geraldine I love you Geraldine I love you Geraldine don't ever go Geraldine lived by the good book Read to the children every evening "Heavenly place where the Father resides" Some sweet tomorrow we'll walk by her side Chorus Geraldine left on a Sunday Lies underneath yonder willow Far across Jordan where paradise lay Angels of mercy done took her away Chorus

The Reins 04:29
The Reins Who knew the changing of the guard would have to be so hard? Guess there's certain stages no one can prepare you for It's the saddest of days, what is there to say? They've gone before your eyes into the unseen door The sorrow steals your breath away, pulls the color from your face But in these trying times it's time you take your place Groomed for just this moment, you must know it's true Someone just handed the reins to you Looking up to them looking out for you each step of the way in every breakthrough Always your constant guide Warm beneath their wing you could face anything And your proudest place to be was always by their side They had a trip to take, a ticket time to meet The journey of their lifetime, to finally fill their seat But before they boarded there was one last thing they had to do And someone just handed the reins to you They say, "Everything is Everything" and that's supposed to be comforting That anytime you look you'll see them everywhere In the blossoming trees, in the sway of the breeze But it isn't quite the same as seeing them standing there No one's ever done it better, past or present, come or gone The groundwork they laid down could never be improved upon But this is just the highest hope they hoped someone might carry through And someone just handed the reins to you Destiny's grace holds firmly in place There are miracles abound that only heaven knows But still there's a choice in every voice And it wasn't happenstance that it was you they chose Their mind was sure and steady, they knew the time was right They could tell your heart grown ready to take up and bear the light And they carefully picked the person to leave the important task to And someone just handed the reins to you Amazing they were, him and her And what they did for you is clear and plain to see But wherever they've gone I know they passed it on For the giant they were for you, you are the same for me However did such a one as this in flesh and blood walk upon this earth? Of pure heart and perfect love beyond measure of worth How can we hope to manage, what ever will we do? Someone just handed the reins to you

Sunflower 04:52
Sunflower Don't it look like rain? The way the clouds all hover here Sad baby pain Swoops in on me by wings of fear That's alright by me That's alright by me As long as I have eyes to see My sunflower Pointing to the sun My sunflower Taller than the trees it seems I step out my door Try to hear the birdies sing Either they don't sing no more Or I can't hear them through this thundering Thoughts in my mind All of the time Still somehow I will unwind With my sunflower Pointing to the sun My sunflower She's taller than the trees it seems She's my sunflower Little Himawari San My sunflower You're taller than the trees it seems And when I feel my head it might explode And I'm a stranger in my skin So ashamed and so alone I see her swaying in the wind She smiles for me Sometimes I can't tell What is real and what's a dream Am I beneath your spell Or are you loving as you seem? It tears me apart It tears me apart You're just so dear to my heart You're my sunflower Pointing to the sun My sunflower Taller than the trees it seems You're my sunflower My little Himawari San My sunflower You're taller than the trees it seems

I Will Make it Through Well my heart is mighty weary My head is filled with much confusion Can't tell what is factual Or what is real or what's illusion So much is unknown So much you can never figure From the moment that you're born 'Til you meet up with the grave digger Chorus: But I will make it Make it through I will make it Make it through Now they'll tell you nothin's good Tell you there's nothin' to believe in They wait until the moment You're tired and unsuspecting They dig themselves a hole Try to pull you down inside it They wait until the moment They know you'll be too tired to fight it Chorus Bridge: Here in the darkness I got to think about the light 'Cause there's always a morning at the end of every night Everything looks ugly If you look at it with tinted glasses Got to come a time All of this confusion passes Chorus So many things that seem set up to bury you But I will make it, make it through

Popeye 03:03
Popeye The night watchman sounds the bell in town Hijack! Out back! Train track tied her down! Oh, who's gonna save her now? Someone found him in line at the health food store Up for the job he swore he'd even the score Heard the news and he shot off out the door Train barrelled in like lightning down the line A hundred yards out from the wailin' lady cryin' Oh but he got there just in time Caught the culprit hiding in the shed Drug him out and thumped him on the head Got the distressed damsel safe back home to bed Hush little baby, let me tuck you in The monster's gone, best not bother you again Or I'll come back I'm Popeye The Sailor Man

Silent Violence Tight lip tight grip Make him do a backflip Cold eyed cold shoulder Man he's looking so much older Tiptoeing around you so he don't have to talk to you 'Cause every time he talks to you it seems to him he bothers you Stands at the door Stares at the floor He better sit down, shut up Let you do your makeup Don't talk, don't speak Only makes you sound weak Hands up in exasperation only adds to your frustration Cannot meet your expectation don't deserve an explanation Can't speak to him Could hear a pin Silent violence, silent violence, silent violence, silent violence Insults, ridicule Always made to feel the fool Consumed, dread and doom Little Joe sits in his room Pointed at, laughed at, perpetually outcast Push him 'til his brain so twisted finds a way he knows they'll listen Nothin' to lose Got his face on the news And here's the white hat diplomat Tells you where the problem's at His fault, your fault Laid out like the gospel fact Half his listeners tip their hats the other half start waving bats His commentary's falling flat on ears eager to fire back Open your eyes Storm on the rise They said it's bullshit untrue Convoluted point of view Take the bait, feel the hate Sprouting up inside of you Type fast, verbal blast, you got to get the word in last Raise your hand to make a fist your daughter's tugging at your wrist Youth's fragile mind Absorbs all the time Silent violence, silent violence, silent violence, silent violence This way that way Everything in disarray Watch your mouth, what you say Who's side are you on anyway Narrow minded short sight pigheaded parasitic critics Neurotic psychotic products of prolific hypocritics Smiling so sweet Blood at their feet They put their post up, comment Splash it on the internet Concrete cement Step out of line look what you get Blood let rivulet, setting up the parapet Foiled from the outset cause everyday is judgement Laid down on you Since you were two But on the news feed, need to bleed Suffering and heartless greed Back and forth, page to page Petrol on your inner rage Fear this, doubt that, stand clear, stay back From everywhere they've got you snookered, hotter than a pressure cooker See the divide Burning inside Silent violence, silent violence, silent violence, silent violence Meanwhile on the street Hotter than the summer heat Tension ninety-eight degrees Tired of being on their knees Held down kept down, shown that they don't have a voice Know your place cold case you don't have any other choice Passive abuse Shortens the fuse And it's so tense, so dense Anything could set it off Payback from way back It's ready for the take off Blackjack dealer deal the cards it's retribution swift and hard Call the mayor, call the bard, put a call into the national guard Prime to ignite Who's got a light? Gun blast whistle blown Streets look like a war zone Stay home, close your eyes Why you lookin' so surprised? Clingin' to your four leaf clover now that shit is boiling over Best to run and take some cover, let you know when this blows over What is all this? All of this started with Silent violence, silent violence, silent violence, silent violence SILENCE

Got a back room in my house Nobody knows about That's where I go to get away Just a creaky rockin' chair A turntable turnin' Helps relieve the pressure of my day Could you close the door behind you? Did anybody follow? 'Cause this ain't just a place for everyone Just take your pick and tell Where to drop the needle On the shining starts I used to walk among 'Cause you can't beat the sound of worn out records Must have played 'em all a hundred thousand times They're dusty and they hiss But I never could resist You can't beat the sound of worn out records My whole life is in these boxes And old tape recorders Decisions, friends, and money I once made You might say I'm sentimental Or some kind of hoarder Well let the ghost of good times past serenade 'Cause you can't beat the sound of worn out records Must have played 'em all a hundred thousand times They're crackle and they pop I want to hear it from the top You can't beat the sound of worn out records They found a fossil on the road An old man tellin' stories The lucky dog who made it out alive So if you really want to know What it takes to taste the glory You can't beat the sound of worn out records Must have played 'em all a hundred thousand times They turn and they hum For the good times come and gone You can't beat the sound of worn out records You can't beat the sound of worn out records You can't beat the sound of worn out records

about

Weber Brothers release 12th Album, "Patches"

"Wildly eclectic, from raw electric blues to heartbreaking acoustic ballads to crazy bluegrass picking, The Weber Brothers are the ultimate roots band, playing, writing and doing it all."
- Bob Mersereau, Top 100 Canadian Blog

"....a peek into the many musical experiences and influences of Ryan and Sam....From songs with smoky dance-inducing blues riffs to melodic ballads with thought-provoking prose, the Webers’ 12th album, Patches, is a showcase of the brothers’ versatile style and musicianship. Each song is so varied it’s hard to put a finger on the style; the album is truly an eclectic mix of all things Weber."
- Lance Anderson, Peterborough This Week

Pieced together from various sessions over the last few years, "Patches" captures the versatility and musicianship the band is known for. From a songwriting perspective, the album covers a lot of stylistic ground. An approach reminiscent of their debut release "149 Lake Street" or 2010's "Left Right Left Right".

The eleven original songs, written by Ryan and Sam Weber, and recorded with several of the Brothers’ long time band mates, were captured in many different places.

"I think that's what I like most about this one," says Sam Weber. "We didn't take a month to get an album done, like we sometimes do. There was no real end goal in mind. We just wrote songs and recorded them. For the fun of it. The challenge to make something good and we could be proud of. That approach can really change the way ideas come across. Even the kind of sounds you get."

Released on CD, vinyl and cassette, 'Patches' takes the listener on quite a ride. Says Ryan Weber, "The album goes a lot of different places, lot of directions, but they all seem to lead to the right place. To me these songs gel in a way I don't even think we quite expected....they are meant to be together on this collection. Some of them have been waiting for quite some time to get out there, but they needed the right vehicle, on ‘Patches' I think they found it."

"There's some very different stuff. We play live so much, but there are songs on the album that were never necessarily meant to be live tunes," Sam adds. "Putting on a rocking show and making an album that's a nice listen are two very different things. And two things I really enjoy doing."
